[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] SK Group donated 12 billion won to the Community Chest of Korea to help neighbors at the end of the year.
SK announced on the 18th that SK Supex Pursuit Council SV Chairman Ji Dong-seop visited the Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byung-joon) in Jung-gu, Seoul and donated 12 billion won. SK has been donating to the Community Chest of Korea every year since 1999. As of this year, the total donation amount for the Hope Sharing Campaign has reached 246.5 billion won.
In addition to the 12 billion won in group-wide donations this year, SK has also raised an additional 6.3 billion won in employee funds through voluntary donations from employees of affiliates such as SK Innovation, SK Hynix, SK Materials, and SK Siltron. When combined with the Hope Sharing Campaign donations, the annual donation amount amounts to 18.3 billion won.
At the 1st Korea Social Value Festa held last September, SK Chairman and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Chey Tae-won said, “We face extremely complex and unprecedented challenges such as the climate crisis, low birth rate, and regional extinction,” and “We need ideas that kill many birds with one stone to solve social problems through communication and cooperation with various stakeholders.”
SK has been carrying out a wide range of activities this year to solve social problems and pursue happiness for various stakeholders. Each affiliate has been consistently carrying out social contribution projects such as providing lunch boxes to children at risk of starvation (Happy Aki) and customized bereavement relief projects.
In addition, the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, has been carrying out talent development activities in line with its new vision of “nurturing talents who will lead the times and building an inclusive knowledge community that creates social value.”
Meanwhile, SK Group has been actively involved in recovery and relief activities in disaster and damaged areas not only domestically but also overseas, such as donating $300,000 to Vietnam to help with the recovery efforts following the worst typhoon damage in 30 years in September of this year.
SK Supex Pursuit Council SV Chairman Ji Dong-seop said, “I hope this can be a small source of strength for our neighbors who are going through a difficult winter due to the uncertain domestic and international economic situations,” and added, “SK will continue to carry out happiness-sharing activities that can grow together with our neighbors and society in the future.”
