Pocari Sweat and Narangd Cider Prices Rise by 100 Won… Dong-A Otsuka, Average Increase of 6.3%

[News Space=Reporter seungwon lee] Dong-A Otsuka will raise the prices of its products, including Pocari Sweat, by an average of 6.3% starting January 1st next year. This decision is due to the continued rise in raw and auxiliary material prices and increased logistics costs.

According to Dong-A Otsuka on the 18th, the price of a 250ml can of Pocari Sweat will increase by 6.3% from 1,600 won to 1,700 won at convenience stores. The 620ml PET will increase by 4.0% from 2,500 won to 2,600 won, and the 1.5L PET will increase by 2.6% from 3,800 won to 3,900 won.

The price of a 250ml can of Narangd Cider will increase by 7.1% from 1,400 won to 1,500 won, and the price of a 350ml can will increase by 5.9% from 1,700 won to 1,800 won.

Oran-C and Demi-Soda will also increase by 100 won per product. The adjusted prices are 1,500 won for a 250ml can of Oran-C, 1,800 won for a 350ml can, and 1,700 won for a 250ml can of Demi-Soda.

Oronamin C will be adjusted upward by 7.1% from 1,400 won to 1,500 won. The Confidence 230ml bottle product will be increased by 11.1% from 1,800 won to 2,000 won. The price adjustment range for bottles has also widened as the raw material cost increase rate is higher than that of cans or PET bottles by over 50%.

On the other hand, the price of Dezawa canned products remains the same. Coffee brand 'Ikaria' is lowered by 12.5% from 2,400 won to 2,100 won. The extraction method was changed from cold brew to hot brew, and the PET used was changed to lower the price. The coffee beans used are the same.

Previously, Dong-A Otsuka adjusted the prices of its products, including Pocari Sweat, by an average of 8.6% in 2022 due to the burden of logistics costs resulting from the increase in raw material prices and oil prices.

A Dong-A Otsuka official explained, “We reviewed a price increase this year, but decided to temporarily postpone the price increase in order to minimize the burden on consumers due to the continued rise in prices.” He continued, “However, as external factors such as the increase in raw and auxiliary material prices and logistics costs continue, adjustments will be unavoidable next year.”
