[뉴스스페이스=김희선 기자] 국내 침대업계 2위 브랜드 에이스침대가 독성 원료가 포함된 침대용 소독·방충제를 ‘인체에 무해하다’고 광고했다가 공정거래위원회로부터 시정명령을 받았다. 그러나 실제 피해 사례가 없다는 이유로 과징금 등 추가 제재는 이뤄지지 않아, 소비자 안전을 경시한 ‘솜방망이 처벌’이라는 비판이 거세다. 에이스침대는 2016년 11월부터 2018년 6월까지 매트리스 옆면에 장착하는 소독·방충제 ‘마이크로가드’를 판매하며 “인체에 무해한 원료를 사용해 제조됐다”, “미국 환경보호청(EPA) 승인 성분”, “정부공인기관 시험완료” 등의 문구를 포장에 표기했다. 하지만 마이크로가드의 주요 성분인 디에틸톨루아마이드(DEET)와 클로록실레놀(Chloroxylenol)은 미국 EPA와 한국산업안전보건공단 모두 일정 수준 이상 노출 시 눈, 피부, 구강 등을 통해 독성 및 건강 유해성을 보일 수 있다고 평가한 물질이다. 공정위는 “소비자들은 전문지식이 부족해 제품의 유해성 여부를 직접 확인하기 어렵고, 제품에 포함된 성분명조차 알 수 없어 사업자의 설명에 의존할 수밖에 없다”며 “주요 성분이 인체에 무해한 것으로 오인할 우려가 크다”고 지적했다. 특히 인체
[뉴스스페이스=김혜주 기자] 국내 대표 저가커피 프랜차이즈 중 하나인 메가커피에서 바퀴벌레가 나왔다는 소비자 제보가 온라인 커뮤니티를 통해 확산되며 위생 논란이 일고 있다. 인터넷 커뮤니티 디시인사이드의 실시간 베스트 갤러리에 4월 30일 ‘으악으악 커피에 바퀴벌레 나온 메가커피’라는 제목의 게시글이 올라왔다. 게시글 작성자는 메가커피 매장에서 구매한 커피 음료 내에서 바퀴벌레를 발견했다며 사진과 함께 상황을 공유했다. 해당 게시글은 빠른 속도로 조회수와 추천 수가 늘어나며 네티즌들의 공분을 사고 있다. 피해 고객이 영수증과 함께 공개한 사진에는 얼음 사이 짙은 갈색의 벌레 사체가 끼어있는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 빨대로 건져 올려보니 새끼 바퀴벌레로 보인다. 피해고객은 본사에 항의했으나 내용증빙과 환불계좌를 알려 달라는 메일만 올 뿐, 사과 전화 한 통이 없었다고 전했다. 환불금 역시 음료 가격인 3900원이 전부였다고 주장했다. 화가 난 피해고객은 이같은 내용을 담은 글을 인터넷커뮤니티에 올리자 본사 측에서 상품권을 보내주는 등 대응을 시작하며 글 삭제를 요청했다. 이번 사건은 최근 커피 프랜차이즈 업계의 급성장과 더불어 위생 관리에 대한 소비자들의 우려가
