[뉴스스페이스=김정영 기자] 유튜브를 앞세운 구글 등 글로벌 빅테크 기업이 국내 플랫폼 양대산맥인 네이버와 카카오톡의 국내 1위를 위협하고 있다. 7일 모바일 빅데이터 플랫폼 기업 아이지에이웍스의 데이터 분석 솔루션 모바일인덱스에 따르면 5월 카카오톡의 MAU(월간 실사용자 수)는 4145만8675명으로 1위를 보였다. 하지만 2위인 유튜브(4095만1188명)와의 격차는 50만7487명에 불과했다. MAU는 한 달 동안 해당 서비스를 최소 1번 이상 이용한 사람의 수를 의미한다. ‘국민메신저’로 불리는 카카오톡은 지난 3년간 국내 플랫폼 MAU 1위 자리를 확고히 지켜왔다. 하지만 5월 기준으로 카카오톡과 유튜브의 MAU 격차는 2020년 298만7225명에서 2021년 227만2538명, 2022년 153만494명에 이어 올해 50만여명으로 큰 폭으로 줄고 있다. 이는 역대 최소 격차다. 새로운 플랫폼이 등장하면서 카카오톡과 유튜브 모두 MAU가 줄었지만 카카오톡 사용자의 이탈 속도가 더 빨랐기 때문이다. 이런 추세가 계속된다면 올해 하반기(7~12월) 중 유튜브가 카카오톡의 MAU를 추월할 가능성이 높다. 최근 ‘MZ세
